The standard GB 15083-2019 "Strength requirement and test method of automobile seats, their anchorages, and any head restrains" (hereinafter referred to as the "new standard"), which the certification of seat and head restrain products is per to, was released on October 14, 2019 and implemented on July 1, 2020, replacing the corresponding old version of the standard GB 15083-2006. According to the requirements of the relevant certification bodies, the relevant requirements for the implementation of the new version of the standard are as follows:

For new applicants

Newly applications of automobile seat and head restrain products, starting from July 1, 2020, must be in accordance with the requirements of the new standard.

For certificates holders

For seat and head restrain products that have already obtained certificates in accordance with the old version standard before July 1, 2020, the manufacturers should update the certification of the products according to the requirements of the new version standard before July 1, 2021; or convert the products to after-sales repair spare parts for vehicle models that have been discontinued. The certification bodies will suspend the certificates for products that have not completed the certificates update or conversion within the time limit; the certification bodies will withdraw the certificates for the products that have not completed the certificates update or conversion more than 3 months after the suspension of the certificates.
